About Dr. Jeff
Dr. Jeffrey Garner is, a California native, with more than 35 years of experience in spiritual formation. His passion is discipling others in the way of belovedness, a pathway of following Jesus as modeled by the Beloved Disciple in the Fourth Gospel.
Professionally, Dr. Jeffrey Garner holds his doctorate degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, with a doctoral focus in Johannine Literature. For 10 years, he taught graduate students at Western Seminary. He served as pastor of San Francisco Lighthouse Church for 25 years. In the Spring of 2025, he founded Way of the Beloved, a ministry founded in response to a life-long call into the belovedness of God.
Dr. Garner currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for Karuna Care International and is the Director of Education for Mike Hayes Ministries. In 2024, Dr. Jeffrey co-authored his debut book, Real Happy: Jesus’ Surprising Path to Genuine Joy. On it’s release date, the book sold over 1,000 copies and hit bestseller in three Amazon categories including, Religious Philosophy and Personal Growth and Christian Inspirational.
Dr. Jeffrey has a gift for drawing seekers and learners into the Belovedness of God. He is a voice to follow in today’s complex, challenging world.
Personally, Dr. Jeffrey is a loving husband and joyful father of two adult children. A lover of nature and wonder, he enjoys, watching the fog spill over The Bay, hiking Mt Tam on New Year’s Day, and listening to John Coltrane in the evenings (as well as cheering on the Warriors and 49’ers). I was delighted to be invited to a Table Talk with Dr. Jeffrey Garner and other members of my community. Jeff and Deborah created an atmosphere that fostered genuine, heart-felt topical discussions. I loved Jeff's use of art as he directed us into observation and discussion that brought out a deeper wonder of Scriptures. Jeff is a gifted teacher and has a way of leaving you wanting more by the end of the lesson. His knowledge of Scripture and passion for "the disciple that Jesus loved" is quite inspirational. This type of gathering around the table discussing the Way of Jesus, as it relates to our human experiences, is a quintessential snapshot of discipleship, resulting in revelation, healing and bonding among believers.
